Amal

Amal is a 48 years old Jordanian. She is married with 7 children (3 boys, 4 girls), ages 14 to 28. Three are married and she has one grandchild. She lives with her husband and children. Her husband has a job.

Because of Green Creations Amal is out of the house, she has met new people, made new friends (both local and foreign), and had the opportunity to see, hear and learn new things. Because of her job at Green Creations she feels like a stronger woman. Having a job gives her a reason to get up in the morning and she is able to do more to help her family.

She is concerned they don’t have enough money for their children to marry. Amal is also concerned for her oldest daughter, who has been married for five years, but has been unable to conceive.

When Amal was first married she moved into the home of her husband’s family (very common here). He had a big family and it was a very hard time in her life because, as a young woman in that household, she had to cook and clean for everyone in that large household. She said her life became much better once her husband and she were able to move into their own home.
